Alvaro Rodriguez Valencia

Profile

Alvaro Rodriguez is associate professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Universidad de los Andes, Colombia. He got his PhD in Transportation Technology and Policy at the University of California (Davis) with the Fulbright Scholarship, under the supervision of Prof. Susan Handy. Currently, his research interests comprise quality of transportation services and infrastructures, travel behavior, and transportation system analysis. He teaches the mandatory Transportation Systems course in civil engineering (undergrad), Transportation Planning, Multimodal Urban Street Design, and Data Science (graduate level) Currently, Dr. Rodriguez is member of the standing committees on Pedestrian (ACH10) and Landscape and environmental design (AKD40) of the Transportation Research Board of National Academy of Medicine, Sciences, and Engineering of the United States of America. He was chair if the Colombian Conference on Transportation Engineering in 2017 and member of the scientific committee of the XIV Pan-American Conference in Transportation Engineering. He has published two books about transportation in Bogota and he is reviewer of the journals: Transport Research Record, International Journal of Sustainable Transportation, Journal of Transport and Health y Transportation Research Part-D. Dr. Rodriguez is frequently columnist of several national wide printed and internet media, such as Semana Magazine, El Tiempo and Razón Pública.

Este observatorio produjo una publicación anual con los principales indicadores de la oferta y demanda de transporte, la accidentalidad, el tema ambiental y las finanzas, a partir de información de varias fuentes, con el fin de generar una fuente de información confiable y que perduraría en el tiempo.
