Jaime Plazas Tuttle is currently an assistant professor. Jaime received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (Environmental and Water Resources Engineering) from University of Texas at Austin (UT, USA, 2017). He also received a M.S. in Environmental Engineering in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC, USA, 2012), a M.S. in Desert Studies (Water Resources and Management) from Ben Gurion University of the Negev (BGU, Israel, 2004), and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (PUJ, Colombia, 2000). His doctoral dissertation was based on a novel nano-enabled system, the first to combine the irradiating energy of microwaves with a nano hetero-structure for water disinfection. His research interests include: i) the use of nanomaterials for water treatment and disinfection, ii) engineering applications based on environmental nanotechnology, iii) social projects to provide solutions that enhanced the quality of life of underserved communities, and iv) the use of alternative technologies for sustainable development.
