The learning objective of this course is to give a general introduction about the main concepts of offshore wind farms; an industry with huge potential in Colombia and significant growth worldwide nowadays. The course is aimed to a Colombian public, offering the attendee the basis to start participating in the developments the Colombian Government is pursuing at present to assign the permits for the areas for the future offshore wind development.
This course is comprised by two main parts: an introduction about Offshore Wind Farms Projects; and the description of the methodology for the design of one of the most typical type of wind turbine foundation, i.e. the monopile.
In the introductory part of the course, the participants will receive a general introduction about offshore wind projects; and it compares this type of electricity generation projects with other sources of electricity generation around the world. The course covers the core concepts a Project Developer will face during the development and execution of a project, such as: the wind turbine; the types of foundations; cables; substations; the site selection; environmental aspects; economic aspects; planning and construction; operation & maintenance; dismantling. Furthermore, the course includes a specific lecture about OW in Colombia and puts it in the context of the world offshore wind industry.
In the 2nd part of the course, the participants to the course will be taken through the methodology for the design of the wind monopile foundation. Unlike conventional structures, such as buildings, wind turbine foundations have aspects, such as fatigue, that require greater attention and precision in their calculation. The course covers the topics of: the monopile; the design basis; the load case table; structural modelling; dynamics; modal analysis; load assessment; fatigue assessment; extreme event assessment; structural design and certification.
IMPORTANTE: Todas las clases del curso serán en inglés.
